SATURDAY & SUNDAY: CHRISTMAS MARKET

Ellu so exited about the christmas market!
Saturday was the first selling day of the weekend. Everyone had two hour shifts and the sales were more than expected!
The atmosphere was lovely all weekend because of all of the christmas lights and pretty set ups.

On sunday there was also couple of Finnish customers so that was a fun suprise!

The market place had a little cafeteria you could for example get some soup, hot drinks or something sweet.
Laura had some awesome waffles from there!

Altogether the days at the christmas market were really nice!

Schoolday salestalks and setting up the marketplace

On Friday morning we took a bus to the FLS. Everyone got to do some fun customer service excersizes including Varia students, Mercuria students and German students. We had a role-play where one was the customer with specific role and the other was trying to sell the things best they could. It was pretty funny!

We had a soup lunch at the school and after that we went to the market place to set up the table.
There was too many of us so we went to a near coffee shop to make some cute price tags while others were unpacking the truck and putting our products out nicely.

In the evening we had tickets to Theater Lübeck for a play called Oliver Twist. Our seats were so high (like really high and steep) that Venla and Johanna actually had to leave because of the scare of the heights. The others stayed and the play itself was really awesome and the actors and actresses were really good. Also the set piece was excellent!

We spend the rest of the night with some friends from Finland and Germany and we had a really nice time out! :)

See you tomorrow guys!

Day at the school and rallying around the city

On Thursday we had some presentations at the FLS about our beloved Finland, including a nice video Johanna and Venla made in Suomenlinna. The German students also told us about Germany, Lübeck and their school system. We were all really tired from lack of sleep but it was all pretty interesting, especially the complicated school system of Germany.

After the presentations us Varia students and the Germans met with the students of Mercuria and began a little tour/race around Lübeck. We were split into teams with at least one from each school, then we were given some tasks to fulfill in each location of the tour, involving picture taking.

After our little race we attended a lesson about differences in Finnish and German cultures with Martin Herold, a German whom once lived in Finland and experienced its culture up close. A lot of both Finnish and German was spoken in the lesson since Martin spoke both really well, and I think it was pretty fun for all of us.

In the end of the day we were all really tired but happy, and some of us Varia students decided to go out for dinner with the FLS students and explore the town more. A long fun day!

Heippa!

They had put Finlands flag up just because we are visiting!
